Just Admit It, This Friends Character Was A Real Hottie All Along
2023/05/28

Either we've all been blinded by the '90s crazy standards or just wanted to keep him to ourselves.

Like every other '90s sitcom out there, every Friends character fills a certain character category and checks out as the perfect image of several stereotypes.

There's nothing wrong with exaggerating some qualities to make them stand out more on screen, especially if they're not offensive. However, it often manipulates users into not looking past the surface.

In Friends, for example, everything is set up to see Rachel as a spoiled rich girl, Ross as a hopeless romantic, and Phoebe as a quirky weirdo who doesn't really fit in.

Chandler Bing falls into the "your everyday loser" category with his out-of-touch humor and complete inability to get a relationship.

But if you look closer, you won't really understand why. If anything, Chandler seems to be the perfect guy right from the start. The one that many girls would fight for instead of constantly rejecting him.

There's no denying that Chandler is funny and attractive.

Although his humor isn't for everyone and is partly rooted in his dark family trauma, there are plenty of people who would find it funny and relatable.

He's in touch with his sensitive side. He also has a pretty good job and comes across as a very responsible guy.

Many fans believe that in reality, Chandler would have been the one to find someone much faster than either the constantly whining Ross or Joey, who has a lot of commitment issues.

Even his awkwardness around women could have been treated as an adorable quirk, but it wouldn't have fit into the narrative of the show.

But it didn't, so instead of being at least somewhat successful in the dating field, Chandler Bing gets nothing but Janice with her crazy laugh and constant accusations of hiding his true sexuality.

Some viewers also believe that Chandler is so likable because we see him from the perspective of his long-time friends, who know his strengths and weaknesses.

Someone who didn't know that would be much harder to impress, so it's no wonder that Chandler ends up with Monica.
